Description: Assistant
teacher/substitute teachers needed for non-competitive,
recreational gymnastics program to spot and encourage children
from 3-14 years of age.
When: Classes are held Monday
through Thursday from noon to 7:30pm. Substitutes are needed at
various times with the possibility of more regular and
consistent work as the need arises. Classes continue through
mid-June.
Requirements: Applicants
should be enthusiastic and confident. Athletic ability and
gymnastics experience a plus. All new staff will be trained by
our professional teachers on site.

of position: Interns,
Volunteers, and paid staff
Description: Work with
children in grades K-6 after school. Lead recreational
activities, share your interests and skills, and build your
resume in this unique inclusion setting where typically
developing children and children with developmental disabilities
interact in a variety of enriching social activities.
When: Program is in session
throughout the school year, Monday through Friday from
2:30-6:00pm. There is some flexibility in scheduling work
hours. There is no program during public school holidays and
Jewish holidays.
Requirements: Experience
working with children preferable. All staff will require three
work or school related referenced, and will be asked to complete
health forms, crime statements, and submit to fingerprinting for
criminal history background checks in compliance with Office of
Children and Family Services licensing requirements for day-care
centers.

Group Leaders,
Counselors, and Aids in Programs for
Children with Special Needs
Type of position: Interns,
Volunteers, and paid staff
Description: Work with
children in grades K-6 who have special needs. Assist
professional staff or lead groups in a variety of activities at
the JCC, from sports to crafts, and on outings to museums,
bowling, indoor and outdoor activities.
When: Program hours are available on
most Sundays, during school vacations, and even after school.
Requirements: Experience
working with special populations is preferable. A comfort
with those who look and act differently is a must. All staff
will require three work or school related referenced, and will
be asked to complete health forms, crime statements, and submit
to fingerprinting for criminal history background checks.

Camps

Pre-school summer experience with
half and full day positions as unit heads and counselors
available to responsible applicants with some childcare
experience or training in education, recreation, child
development or related field.
JCC Country Day Camp
Monday, June 30 - Friday, August 15
Full
day outdoor day camp for grade school and middle school campers
seeking counselors comfortable with older children to provide
supervision at the camp ground, model leadership skills and good
sportsmanship, and engage children in a variety of sports,
crafts, and recreational activities throughout the day.
Camp BaShemesh (In the Sun)
Monday, June 30 - Friday, August 15
Full day outdoor camp for grade
school children with special needs. Counselors with experience
or education relating to developmental disabilities including
those on the autistic spectrum are needed to work with special
campers in a typical day camp setting. Camp will include
activities with campers from JCC Country Day Camp as well as
self-contained activities in adaptive sports, and therapeutic
crafts and music. A unique and exciting experience for students
and professionals working in special education!
