History
of Center
The Jewish Community Center on the Hudson
(formerly the JCC in Yonkers) was founded in 1929.
Viewed as the focal point for the local Jewish community and its
sister organizations, the JCC provided, then and now, an important gateway
to Jewish life for thousands of Jewish families.
Following
its successful outreach efforts to the Rivertowns Community of Westchester
in 1986, the JCC has evolved into a dynamic community resource for
individuals of all ages, races and religions.
As a non-sectarian community center, the JCC provides an array of
services including nursery school, after-school care, school of music and
performing arts, senior clubs, day camping, Jewish and general education
and a state of the art fitness center.
In
addition, the JCC provides the Jewish community with a rich and varied
selection of programs to learn and enjoy their Jewish heritage.
The Center also has expanded its program offerings in recent years
to provide services for individuals with disabilities through social and
recreational programming.
The
JCC is registered through New York State as a 501(c)3, not-for-profit
corporation, guided by a dedicated volunteer Board of Governors and an
experienced professional staff.
We
hope you’ll explore the opportunities available at the JCC and consider
becoming a member of our JCC family.
